Ensuring your child develops a healthy sleep routine is very important to their overall health, and can give you an extra couple hours of sleep a night as well.
Biomechanical injuries, such as cervical (neck) spine misalignments, to the spine can occur during childbirth, from tumbles or falls, or from other daily activities. If these misalignments are left untreated inflammation may occur, which can irritate the nerves and add stress to the nervous system and the body’s ability to function properly. These irritated nerves could cause a child to seem “fussy”, wake up randomly throughout the night, or even prevent normal sleep.
The purpose of a chiropractic adjustment is not to exactly treat sleeping issues, but to correct these problematic misalignments and irritated nerves. By doing this the body can function better, and a child is able to relax which could improve sleep.
